Ashbourne’s Young Farmers ready to be run ragged
15 Young Farmers from Ashbourne YFC in Derbyshire are preparing to don their trainers and, between them, run just over 100 miles to Blackpool for the 2016 Annual Convention!
The members will be running in a relay, leaving Ashbourne on Thursday morning and aiming to arrive at Blackpool's Winter Gardens at midday Friday.
The club are raising money for Epilepsy Research UK, a charity close to the heart of the club's chairwoman, Kathryn Moorcroft.
Kathryn (pictured second from the right) said: "I’ve seen first-hand the effect the condition has on a person’s life as my sister was diagnosed at 16. We are hoping to reach our target of £500, which will go a long way to helping people like my sister. We did a sponsored bike ride to Blackpool AGM two years ago but we’ve never attempted a run before. The majority couldn’t even run a mile before we started training a couple of months ago so it’s been blood, sweat and tears!"
