Jumping for joy

Despite a string of injuries, Wotton & Dursey Vale YFC from have retained their Jump Rope title.

The team from Gloucestershire could only start training in January because of a nasty ankle break suffered by Sam Adams.

In addition, Debbie Millington has been in a car accident and Dan Whincup had had a knee operation that had “gone horribly wrong”, leaving Tess Bateman as the only fully-fit member of the quartet.

“I was struggling with my calf today as well,” said Dan, “but the adrenaline got me through!”

“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Sam. “Even with the bad ankle!”

The judges – top jump rope outfit Jump Rope UK – praised all the entrants but placed Wotton & Dursey Vale ahead of second placed Salmesbury YFC from Lancashire and Eccleshall YFC from Staffordshire.

The jump rope competition was subsequently followed by the commercial dance competition. Find out what happened in that competition by clicking here.
