Matt gets the party started

BBC Radio 1 DJ Matt Edmondson got Annual Convention 2017 off to a rocking start as he DJed the first night.

It was Matt’s first time at Annual Convention – although he is no stranger to young farmers.

“I’ve done the Young Peoples Village with YFC Wales. That’s amazing,” he said shortly before taking to the stage to play in front of 6,000 members. “So I’ve done loads of Young Farmers things but this is my first time at National.

“I was texting Chris Stark on the way down here because I knew he was playing on Sunday and he said to say hello to everyone which I will do.”

Although he loves to play in front of young farmers, Matt is the first to admit that he’s not the go-to guy for all the latest developments in agricultural affairs.

“But I do like things from farms,” he said. “I eat a boiled egg every single day for breakfast – that comes from a farm.

“And I do like a good steak, although I’m a bit of a steak blasphemer in that I like it very well done. I like it almost rubbery – char it and make it like a bit of old boot.”
