Peddling for Pembrokeshire

Peddling for Pembrokeshire

Planning for the traditional fundraisers that YFC members do on the way to Annual Convention is already underway.

Pembrokeshire FYFC Chairman Non Thorne, from Tiers Cross YFC, has set a cycling challenge for her County and so far 17 members are leaping into the saddle to join her on route to Blackpool.

They plan to leave Haverfordwest on the Tuesday before Convention and, after cycling 250 miles, arrive in Blackpool by Friday 4 May.

Each year Pembrokeshire’s County Chairman chooses a unique challenge or fundraiser and Non wanted to do something that would bring the members together, involve trying something new and raise money for charity. Donations from their mission will support Prostate Cymru, Wales Air Ambulance and Pembrokeshire FYFC.

Non said: "I'm far more comfortable in the show ring with my Hereford cattle than on a bike, but this is what YFC is about: pushing yourself to try something new in a fun and friendly way.

"Over 5,000 young farmers will descend on Blackpool for the AGM in May, most arriving by car, bus or train. However we will by putting on our Lycra, pumping up our tyres and cycling all the way.”

Pembrokeshire have already set up a JustGiving fundraising page and have their own Facebook Page for the challenge.
